Meena Kumar is a 14-year-old girl who devotes her time to helping fund a local rescue center that aims to provide care for senior dogs.
Kumar herself is an adopted child. At the age of two, her adoptive family started noticing her fascination for dogs. Kumar would often visit her grandmother’s house and play with her grandmother’s dogs and puppies.
Her love for dogs continued until she reached the age of eight, where she would spend her Saturdays and Sundays in the local humane society. At eight also, she was able to have her first rescued dog named Bambie. She shares her bed and most of her daily activities with Bambie whom she treats like a sister.
But Kumar wanted more pets, to which her parents strongly disagreed. This led Kumar to Muttville, a local organization that rescues and provides care to senior dogs. However, she was too young to be a volunteer. Still, that did not stop her from doing her passion.
At the age of 14, Meena Kumar started her very own pet care services called Pet Fairy Services. There, she offers 35 dollars for a 24-hour pet care service, and all her earnings go to Muttville. She also shares through her website her experience with dogs and how her friendship with Sherri Franklin, the founder of Muttville, started. She highlights quality pet care and includes testimonials from magazines where her selfless service with a mission is featured.
As of now, Meena is able to donate over seven thousand dollars to Muttville and a total of 14 thousand dollars with the help of other organizations.
Meena has proven that even at a very young age, a person can make a big difference. She may be a child in the eyes of the others, but she is definitely a hero for the senior dogs.
