It all started when Maggie, an Australian Shepherd mix, heard puppies crying. The sound came from across the room, and she could not help but worry. She wanted to look for the puppies and comfort them. It was important to her that she gives them the assurance that things will be alright.
A mother’s instincts
All the crying from the puppies activated Maggie’s instincts as a mother. She had just been adopted that time. Maggie was staying at Barkers Pet Motel and Grooming when the young pups arrived. The owner, Sandy Aldred, left the puppies and went out for dinner. She figured, they can just settle down by themselves.
Aldred has an app installed on her phone that allowed her to monitor the security cameras of the motel. She was looking at the cameras located in the area where the dogs are when she noticed something. Maggie was on the move!
Comfort for the puppies
Maggie found a way to free herself. She ran around, looking for the puppies who couldn’t stop crying. When she finally discovered their location, she let herself in and laid down. Maggie knew that the puppies needed her as much as she needed them, She decided to stay with the puppies until Aldred arrived.
Seeing that the puppies were indeed calmer with Maggie, Aldred gave them time to bond. The puppies cuddled with Maggie, and they all had a good night’s rest. The next day, Maggie’s owners came. They were there to pick her up. Aldred shared the wonderful story, and they were thrilled to hear it. As it turns out, Maggie’s litter of puppies back when she was still with the humane society were quickly adopted. This may be the reason why she was very interested in this second litter.
Aldred gave a copy of the video to The Dodo. It has gone viral ever since it was posted. Watch the full video here:
