One July morning, the Takis Shelter received a call from a concerned citizen about a bony dog running around the neighborhood. Takis immediately went to check where the dog was and found it lying on its makeshift home.
The skinny dog, whom he later named as Figo, was so malnourished that his bones started protruding from his body. Despite having a lot of wounds on his body, Figo did not show any signs of aggression to Takis.
When Takis noticed that Figo could not stop scratching himself, he took a closer look at the dog’s body and found hundreds of fleas running everywhere. Figo seemed defeated, but Takis knew that the dog looked determined to survive.
Takis’ assistant slowly carried Figo and placed the dog on his carrier. As soon as they secured the dog to safety, Taki drove to his home together with Figo in tow.
When Figo arrived at Takis’ home, he quickly ran to the cat litter box. Takis was so heartbroken when he saw Figo lying on the cat sand, that he asked what the dog was doing.
Takis believed that Figo must have gotten used living outside that he did not know what a real home was supposed to look and feel like. Later on, Takis gradually convinced Figo that he could sleep on the nice, soft bed that he provided for him.
After Figo slept comfortably on his new bed, the dog woke up feeling hungry. When he got up from sleep, he immediately ate all the food that Takis gave him.
Now that Figo received his regular meals, he started gaining weight and coming out of his shell. Takis shared that Figo was a bit shy at first, but the dog slowly warmed up to him and now refuses to stop hugging his savior.
