It’s not uncommon for businesses nowadays to use dogs as their mascots. They even make an appearance in stores to greet their customers. Hotels have been doing this as well. But recently, a luxury hotel has warmed to the idea and for the first time, legally adopted a Bernese Mountain Dog.
Welcome
Kitty Jacob Astor II was only a puppy when the St. Regis Aspen Resort in Colorado took him in permanently. He is named after the hotel’s founder and his first dog. It’s a pretty strange name for a dog, but they say that this is a tribute to the renowned sense of humor of their founder.
Kitty is still a pup, less than a year old, but he has been given some serious responsibilities. There would be times when he would join airport pick-ups, or he would host storytimes with the guest’s children. He also attends community events representing the hotel.
But of course, his main job is to welcome the guests and make them feel more at home. He could be found wandering in the lobby or sitting by the main entrance. There would also be times when he would go to where the guests are sitting would offer himself for cuddling or some belly rubs.
There would even be times when he would go to the rooms of guests, if they want, and give goodnight nuzzles. He is there to give everyone a happy and comforting time.
Downtime
When he is not at work, Kitty is very at home in Colorado’s cold and snowy terrain. He loves frolicking and wandering through the hotel grounds, just playing with the snow. He is, after all, a Bernese Mountian Dog. Their breed is known for that.
Looking at his Instagram account, you will see that Kitty is definitely living the life that he deserves.
