Bella is a dog who has spent nearly all of her life inside her kennel in a public dog pound in Romania. Her cell was bare; the canine didn’t even have a cushion on which to rest comfortably.
She was also deprived of human contact as well as leisure activities. The pound administrators just kept her there without toys or any other stimulation, and she waited indefinitely for her circumstances to improve.
Thankfully, a small non-profit animal rescue organization in Romania called Howl of a Dog saw Bella and decided to rescue her from the pound.
Bella was so sweet and gentle with the rescuer once she got into the car with her. The dog, assumed to be a border collie mix, even laid her head on her lap at one point and fell asleep, trusting that the human was there to make her life better.
The animal workers brought the mutt to a veterinary clinic, where she received a medicated bath for her fleas and had her labs done to check for diseases.
Afterward, Bella went into a foster home. With the proper diet, her weight quickly increased to a healthy level. The good girl also took her deworming medication dutifully and without making a fuss.
The border collie mix is a rather shy pooch who prefers taking in new things slowly, but she goes along well with people and other dogs once she has gotten to know them.
Howl of a Dog allows international adoptions, and the intelligent and eager-to-please Bella soon found a loving family in Germany who opened their home to her.
She now lives in a quiet village surrounded by a forest, which she loves to explore with her fur mom Nathalie and her canine friend Bumble.
