Dogs are emotional creatures. They know how to love, and care, and they definitely know sadness. Not a lot of people know that dogs can also feel depressed and these dogs end up wasting away.
A rescue dog named Daya was pulled from the shelter and into a foster home because she looked pregnant. Daya was expecting a huge litter of puppies and her rescuers were also looking forward to the birth of her litter. Unfortunately, there were complications with Daya’s pregnancy and she lost all of them before she even gave birth.
What’s even more painful was that Daya was looking forward to meeting her babies. When she didn’t, she fell into a dark place where she started to feel depressed. Daya refused to eat or do anything and her foster parents knew that they had to do something. So, they posted about Daya on social media to ask for help.
The rescuers also posted about an orphaned puppy named Raisin that had eye surgery needing a foster home to recover. It seemed really like a match made in heaven but they did need a foster home to take both pups for a few weeks. They posted asking if someone would be willing to foster both dogs.
Thankfully, a woman named Katie Loveluck happened to come across Daya’s story on her social media page. Katie was heartbroken when she read about Daya. Katie and her husband also read about Raisin and they definitely wanted to help out. So, they reached out to the rescue and volunteered to foster both Daya and Raisin.
When Daya first met Raisin, something definitely changed about her behavior. Daya’s maternal instincts kicked in and she started following Raisin around. Daya was very maternal and protective of Raisin and she took on the role to become Raisin’s mom. Raisin also needed a mom and when she reciprocated the love and care that Daya was giving her, Katie and her husband knew that everything would be okay.
Daya gets to be a mom again and she’s finally happy to become a mom. Raisin also got the love from a mama dog, which she badly needed. Everything worked out for Daya and Raisin. When Daya felt emotionally better, she was finally ready to go back to her first foster mom.
As for Raisin, she also went to her forever home. It turned out that Katie and her husband fell in love with Raisin on the first day that they got her. Katie figured that they were lying to themselves to think that they could ever give Raisin up. After Daya went back to her first foster mom, Katie and her husband decided to adopt Raisin for good.
Raisin also bonded with Katie’s other dog, Charlie, who developed an unbreakable bond and friendship with Daya. It’s amazing how two broken dogs found each other and helped heal each other. Here’s a video showing Daya and Raisin’s story that will truly make your heart melt.
