Sometimes veterinarians find the strangest things inside a dog’s stomach. For example, a vet named Dr. Diarra Blue has seen a unique foreign body inside a dog. He has removed objects from a dog’s stomach before, but it was the first time he saw something that strange.
It all started when a man named Lee Rambid came to Dr. Blue’s clinic. He brought his dog named Jamie Bell. According to Lee, Jamie Bell is usually a very bubbly dog, but her behavior has recently changed.
Jamie had been refusing to eat for five days. She was also frequently vomiting. Dr. Blue suspects that she has a foreign body inside her stomach. The vet conducted an X-ray scan to see if his hunch was right.
The vet saw a large number of foreign objects inside the dog. Jamie Bell’s stomach was full. That’s not normal for a dog who has not eaten for five days.
Dr. Blue recommended immediate surgery. The owner agreed, and the vet took the dog to the operating room. The surgery took a lot of time because he had to remove a lot of items that look like couch stuffings from the dog’s stomach.
Dr. Blue believes that Jamie Bell might have eaten a part of a couch or a dog bed. It was the first time Dr. Blue had pulled out stuffings from inside a dog’s stomach. The total weight of all the stuffings pulled out was two and a half pounds.
After the surgery, Jamie Bell had to stay in the clinic for a while. They had to see if she regained her appetite. Fortunately, she was able to eat again, and her demeanor went back to normal. She returned to being a bubbly dog.
The owner came back to the clinic to get Jamie Bell. Dr. Blue told the owner about what had transpired during surgery. The vet showed the bag full of couch stuffing to Lee, and he was shocked by what he saw.
Dr. Blue asked Lee if there was a missing part of a couch in their home. Lee said he hadn’t noticed anything like that in his home. The vet advised the owner to keep an eye on his dog because it is likely to happen again.
