Everyone in the world has failed or had been down at least once in their life. As they said, if it doesn’t kill you it makes you stronger. It is admirable how a traumatized soul finds the courage to get up again and live for another day — and when we say “soul,” we mean this includes dogs as well.
Blossom is one of these souls that inspired us greatly. She was rescued one day along with 150 other dogs that were being hoarded. Blossom didn’t receive the love and care she was supposed to get, that she didn’t even get the chance to learn how to become a dog.
She didn’t even know how to drink water. She was so traumatized by her past that she was afraid of virtually anything. She was afraid of people, grass, loud noise, and even sunlight. Luckily, she was fostered by Rocky Kanaka, who was not ready to give up on her.
Kanaka has been fostering dogs for many years, but he has never seen anything like Blossom. When he took her to his home, her body would just start to shake uncontrollably, perhaps caused by being in a new environment. Blossom would always hide under Kanaka’s dining table and never left there except for bathroom time.
Kanaka had to cook Blossom meals that had enough moisture in it because she doesn’t know how to drink water like a normal dog. Kanaka would feed her by hand to gain her trust little by little. After several weeks — a breakthrough. Blossom copied the other dogs and drank water from their bowl.
Later on, she jumped up on Kanaka’s lap out of nowhere to cuddle with him — like a normal dog. Kanaka couldn’t believe his eyes as it took forever to break through Blossom’s barrier. Now, she wags her tail wildly and runs around the lawn like the goofball and love bug that she is. See her amazing transformation in the video below.
