Cher Herrera works as a customer service representative in her hometown in Bacolod City, Philippines. She inherited from her parents a house large enough for her and her brother. On the side of her being a call center agent, Cher likewise looks after her two nieces. At home, Cher has two rescue Golden Retrievers named Echo and Faith.
According to Cher, she is a dog lover ever since an event in her younger years happened. A tragedy she experienced when she was nine years old fueled her passion for dogs.
Cher shared that she witnessed the stealing of their family dog by their neighbors. Later on, the dog got slaughtered and eaten by the same people. This event left an indelible mark in the young life of Cher.
After a few years, Cher decided to take in as many stray animals as possible. Before turning 18, the call center agent became a foster parent to 13 dogs and nine cats. She would then ask her closest friends to help her look for new homes for the stray animals.
Fortunately, Cher has supportive friends who helped her with her advocacy. Ever since she saw the fruit of her hard work, Cher never stopped taking in as many stray animals as possible. Cher would bring these rescue animals to their house and feed them.
Once she finds a potential adopter to the animals, Cher would let them go for free. This is why Cher decided to put up an animal rescue of her own. She named it Faith Rescue to serve as a reminder of why she is doing this advocacy.
Fortunately, Cher’s animal rescue receives enough donations from people who share the same passion as hers. Cher also receives help from a group of volunteers who extend assistance in running the shelter. According to Cher, Faith Rescue could house at least 30 stray animals at a time.
